"A perfume is a promise of emotion. Above all, it must touch the soul."
Thierry Wasser is a Swiss perfumer born in Montreux in 1961. He is the fifth head perfumer at Guerlain, a position he has held since 2008, and the first not to belong to the Guerlain family.
Passionate about scents from an early age, he trained in biology and botany before joining the Givaudan perfumery school. After a career at Firmenich, he joined Guerlain to perpetuate its heritage while creating modern fragrances.
At Guerlain, he has designed iconic fragrances such as Idylle (2009) and La Petite Robe Noire (2012), while reformulating classics such as Shalimar and L'Heure Bleue with respect and finesse.
Thierry Wasser is renowned for his style, which blends tradition and innovation, and for his love of natural raw materials. He travels the world to select the best ingredients, working with local growers to guarantee their quality and sustainability.
He is also appreciated for his warm personality and sense of humour, which contrast with the seriousness often associated with luxury. Through his work, he reinforces Guerlain's identity while raising awareness of the importance of sustainability and art in perfumery. His influence extends beyond his creations, making him an ambassador for contemporary perfumery.
