Rodrigo Flores-Roux

“Perfumers speak a language that is wordless, but absolutely meaningful — it's completely universal.”

When Rodrigo Flores-Roux was four-years-old, he naughtily went through his aunt's chest of drawers, found a perfume bottle, and hastily slid it into his pocket. "It was just so beautiful," he reminisces. But the bottle then leaked, and the strong aroma invaded the room. "Both my mother and my grandmother scolded me for stealing the bottle, and for ruining my shorts!"
It was from that moment on, Rodrigo fell in love with scents.
He certainly has made fragrance the center of his life. After attending perfumery school in France, he returned to his homeland, Mexico, where he began his career in 1991. Always immersed in history and art, he informs his creations via his broad range of interests. The breadth of his polymath knowledge is evident in his perfumes. "I can do minimalistic quite well, but I am a maximalist at heart. I've been told that my perfumes are ‘chatty,’ and evolve like interesting, nuanced conversations — evocative and bold. I don't know how to do subtle perfume…Why bother?"
