Pierre Bourdon

The architect of iconic fragrances.

A graduate of Sciences Po, Pierre Bourdon quickly turned his attention to the world of perfume. In 1971, he began his career at Roure Bertrand in Grasse, where he trained under master craftsman Edmond Roudnitska. After a five-year apprenticeship, he joined the company's Paris team and specialised in toiletries, before spending a year in the United States.
It was at Roure that he scored his first successes, notably Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent in 1981 and Darling by Elida Gibbs. In 1982, he co-founded Takasago Europe, where he worked as head perfumer for nine years. He created some of the most influential fragrances of his time, including Cool Water, Jil Sander Sun and Joop! Homme.
Always in search of innovation, he went on to create Fantasme for Ted Lapidus, Kouros Eau Fraîcheur and Night Flight for Joop! In 1993, he took a new step by founding Fragrance Resources France, which he manages as CEO. At the head of this subsidiary, he gave impetus to the creation of exceptional fragrances for the European market.
In 1995, he once again made his mark on the industry with Dolce Vita by Christian Dior, consolidating his status as a perfume visionary.
