Production

Rather large in stature, tobacco plants typically measure 2 meters in height, and produce large, oval-shaped leaves that measure 50 cm in length. Their coveted scent is obtained using volatile solvents. Their naturally dark color means that the absolutes are typically artificially bleaches. The absolutes are predominately produced in France, but their use is restricted on account of their nicotine content.

History

The name of perfumery’s tobacco facet originates in snuff, which was flavored with aromatic plants such as tonka bean to give it a more pleasant and powerful aroma. As a result, tobacco notes mostly refer to ingredients used in tobacco flavoring. They give a silky richness to fragrances.
